Remember me tomorrow
Remember me today
Remember so you don’t forget
We are the truth, the way
Practice what I taught you
Recipes, prayers, songs
Remember that these rituals
Will help you carry on
Speak the words of Octavia
Audre, Grandma, and the Psalms
In times of tribulation
These too will be a balm
On days that you grow weary
Don’t forget to rest
Know that there’s a way we’ve paved
So you can take a breath
When there looks to be no way
And all you see is pain
Practice letting go and grieving.
Then shine your eyes again
Know that change is constant
And you are changing too
The past, present, and future
Is all inside of you
Black is the beginning
Black will be the end
The darkness is a birthing place
It’s where you find the light my friend
Remember how I always said
Charity begins at home?
Well Home is all the meat of you
Your spirit, mind and bone
So speak this back tomorrow
And speak this back today
Speak this until your being knows
You’re sunshine and clay
