Weaving Freedom Dreams: A Collaborative Poem

By the Love Now Media community

Wisdom from the past

Ancestors are ghostwriters

I speak truth through them.

See the magic we made

A world with bold dreams and vision

Free & Healed because of you, my ancestors.

Ancestors guide our eyes

move our spirits

forward

into the future

a descent into knowing

truth of our

histories

remembering

truth of our past

If you don’t honor

Your Ancestors,

they won’t honor

you,

Then who’s going

to PROTECT you!

I find the reason,

when you call, I must

answer.

Don’t doubt I’m here,

too.

you should fight for love

But when it is one sided

It’s shadow boxing

In A Quest For Peace

We Can Sometimes Lose The

Point

The Fight Continues

Freedom ain’t

Free It take

work. with out pay.

Basis of social,

Determines Societies.

Embeds all folks

beliefs.

sequined scar tissues

drumbeat stories, an old life

i dance and shed skin

A Band-Aid Isn’t Enough

A Vacation Isn’t Enough

I Need Your Touch Again

Oh, the Sonogram

the air, the Joy, it has left

Don’t say shit to me

Editor’s Note: This poem was compiled at the Fall 2024 Release Party for Love Now Magazine. Attendees were asked to write down their feelings and responses to various prompts, in haiku format, and submit them anonymously for publication. Following the event, the haikus were compiled by curator Kim Russell into a longer form poem, published above.
