Call For Stories: The Politics of Play

Love Now Media invites the public to submit stories about the art of play, joy, recreation, leisure, and limitations to access

PHILADELPHIA, PA (August 19, 2022) – Love Now Media, an empathy-centered media company, invites the public to submit written stories with the theme The Politics of Play (gaming, music, sports, creativity, leisure). Love Now Media’s reporting on The Politics of Play has covered the art of play through the lens of Black and Indigenous joy, mental health, wellness, the arts, economics, education, and time ownership.  The call for story submissions is open to the public and has been extended to August 30, 2022, at 11:59 pm (EST).

Story submissions should capture reflections from individuals who engage in various methods of play and/or critical thought pieces from experts who can speak to: diversity, inclusion, the environment, trauma and health, and policies that create limitations or lead to inequitable access to various methods of play.

At its core, the call for stories asks us to consider:

  • How does play impact our perception and experience of life, work, and wellness?
  • How have policies impacted the prioritization and value of play specifically among Black and Indigenous communities?
  • What does this mean for community members’ joy, mental health, wellness, economics, education, and time ownership?

Submitted stories will be considered for Love Now Media’s fall publication of Love & Words.
